Mr. Foster has lived nearly his entire life in DeKalb County, Illinois. He graduated from Northern Illinois University (BA in Psychology 1974) and attended law school at IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law where he served as the Managing Editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review and graduated with High Honors in 1979. Mr. Foster’s legal career started with this firm in 1979. He also served as a part time Assistant State's Attorney from 1982-1985 and as the DeKalb County State’s Attorney on an interim basis during 2009 by appointment of the Chief Judge of the 16th Judicial Circuit. Mr. Foster is admitted to the Bar in Illinois and in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. He is a member and past President of the DeKalb County Bar Association and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association.

After nearly 45 years as a general practitioner, Mr. Foster has focused his practice on the areas of Municipal Law, (representing numerous cities, villages and special taxing districts) Estate Planning and Administration, Farm and Commercial Real Estate and Business and Commercial Law. Mr. Foster is a regular attendee of various seminars, forums, and conferences given around the country for estate planning professionals and has been a regular speaker at seminars involving all aspects of estate planning, Agricultural Law, and Business Succession Planning. In addition, Mr. Foster’s practice involves all aspects of municipal representation including litigation and labor negotiation and arbitration. Mr. Foster represents numerous farmers and farm companies throughout the region and regularly negotiates wind and solar leases on behalf of his clients.


Mr. Foster has handled numerous complex and important matters for his clients involving significant amounts of money, and significant business and personal issues for his clients. Using cutting edge technology, documentation can be produced employing the very latest concepts and language consistent with up-to-date laws and regulations relating to taxation, trusts and estates, business entities, etc. Working with other professionals including Financial Planners, Certified Public Accountants, Insurance Agents, and Trust Officers, Mr. Foster is able to efficiently and professionally handle long range estate and business planning, and the immediate needs of his clients for business transactions, and estate and trust administration.
