Timothy J. Conklin
Tim came to DeKalb in 1991 to begin his studies at Northern Illinois University and has been a
resident of DeKalb County ever since. After receiving his Undergraduate Degree in Political Science,
he began working at a light-industry manufacturing facility in DeKalb. In the six years he spent
working at that factory, he gained valuable experience that he utilizes in his practice that help
him better understand the variety of issues that people face in their daily lives. During this time
Tim began working on his Master of Business Administration. After six years of working in business
and industry, Tim enrolled in Northern Illinois University College of Law in the fall of 2001.
While in law school he served as an editor for the Northern Illinois University Law Review.
Tim graduated from law school, Magna Cum Laude in 2004.
Tim’s legal career began with a small general practice firm in McHenry County. His desire to
return to DeKalb is what brought him to our firm in February of 2006. Since joining the firm,
Tim has geared his practice toward Landlord - Tenant law, Traffic and Criminal, Collections,
Municipal Law, and General Civil Practice. Tim prosecutes Ordinance Violations for the numerous
municipalities that the firm represents. Tim was also instrumental in helping the City of Sycamore
obtain a dismissal of a Federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a real estate transfer
tax passed by the City of Sycamore. He has conducted several bench trials and obtained numerous
decisions in favor of the many landlords that he represents, and has obtained a favorable result in a
hearing before a local Police and Fire Commission.
