Marcy L. Buick
Marcy L. Buick was born in Lincoln, Illinois. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana
(B.S. 1986) and her law degree at Northern Illinois University (J.D. 1990). Upon graduation from law school in 1990, Ms. Buick was
admitted to the Illinois Bar and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. She is a member of the Federal Trial Bar.
She is a native of Central Illinois, but has made DeKalb County her home since entering law school in 1987. She, her husband Kevin,
also a member of the firm, and their daughter reside in Sycamore. She is committed to her community as a member of the Sycamore Rotary
Club and serving as a member of the Board of Directors for Sycamore Charities, Inc.
Prior to joining the firm in 2000, Ms. Buick had served as an Assistant Kane County Public Defender, handling juvenile cases (neglect
and abuse, delinquency) as well as adult felonies and misdemeanors. She later worked as a prosecutor in the DeKalb County State’s Attorneys
office, and as a Special Assistant to the DeKalb County Circuit Clerk. Currently, in addition to her private practice, she serves as one
of DeKalb County’s criminal conflict attorneys representing indigent defendants when the Public Defender’s office cannot.
Having acquired broad experience in the courtroom Ms. Buick's trial litigation skills are at the forefront of her practice. She places
emphasis in the areas of complex civil litigation, criminal trial practice, family law including dissolution of marriage and post-decree
matters, and juvenile law.
