Kevin E. Buick, Partner
Kevin Buick has spent nearly three decades practicing law in DeKalb County for this firm. Having grown up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago after spending early years in DeKalb and Waterman, his family moved west to the Rocky Mountains during his high school years. He graduated from high school in Vail, Colorado in 1982, attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, and spent his college summers on the family’s cattle ranch on the western slope of the state. After completing his undergraduate studies, he returned to the Midwest to attend law school at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. He joined the firm as a law clerk in 1989, began practice as an associate attorney in 1990, and became a partner in the firm in 1994. Since then, Mr. Buick has spent his career working as a general practice lawyer with clients in diverse areas of the law such as general business matters, real estate transactions, banking law, civil litigation, appellate work, and estate planning/administration. In recent years he has focused his practice toward representing local municipalities and other public bodies including townships, drainage districts, and libraries. He serves as primary legal counsel for the local communities of Kingston, Malta, Maple Park, Cortland, and Sandwich in addition to working with the City of Sycamore and its some of its subsidiary bodies. He also has handled a number of prominent zoning and land use matters for private clients. He is a former zoning hearing officer for the County of DeKalb, having served that position for ten years.
Mr. Buick is actively involved in local charitable and community-oriented affairs, currently serving as the President of the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Executive Committee for the DeKalb County Community Foundation, and serves on the Board of Directors for a local charity, Pay It Forward House, NFP, in Sycamore. In the past, he has served the Boards of the Family Service Agency of DeKalb County, Opportunity House, C.A.S.A. of DeKalb County, Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary Club, and the DeKalb County Board of Health. He is the current President of the DeKalb County Bar Association.
